Wilderness Leader Intern
Wilderness Leader Internship (WLI)
Our Internship experience is a ten-week intensive training program in wilderness leadership and experiential discipleship for students who have completed Wilderness Leadership Expedition (WLE). WLI students will receive comprehensive instruction in all facets of wilderness ministry, including wilderness medicine, risk management, minimum impact wilderness ethic, technical skill training, program design, route planning, mentoring, small group development, translating and processing experiences, spiriutal formation and community engagement. WLI will allow students to develop the important "hats" an instructor must wear, not only equipping new instructors to lead in the wilderness, but to live into a life-style of engaged leadership in their home communities. Instructor training will include both classroom and field instruction. New instructors will complete this experience wtih field assignments, working to facilitate wilderness experiences for middle school or high school students. Upon completion of the our wilderness intern program, new instructors will undergo a review and evaluation process, potentially leading to future paid opportunities with Coldwater Foundation as a returning instructor.
