Camp Cook Job Description:
Coldwater is seeking ambitious and hard-working individuals to join our Christian ministry as a Cook. As an integral part of our ministry team, you will be responsible for creating nourishing meals for participants and staff engaging in wilderness programs. In addition to the fulfilling work, this position offers the unique benefit of living in a close-knit Christian community, along with free room and board and a $2000 stipend.
Job Dates: May 18 – August 16, 2025, with opportunities to work beyond this date.
Responsibilities:
Meal Planning and Preparation:
- Receive extensive training from our experienced kitchen manager on cooking, baking, safety and hospitality.
- Develop nutritious and well-balanced meal plans suitable for participants with diverse dietary needs.
- Prepare meals in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Accommodate special dietary requirements and restrictions as needed.
Hospitality:
- Foster a welcoming and warm atmosphere through the preparation and serving of meals.
- Engage with participants and staff in a friendly and supportive manner, contributing to the overall sense of community during wilderness programs and work days.
Christian Community Living:
- Enjoy the enriching experience of living in a unique Christian community, fostering a supportive and spiritually nurturing environment.
- Participate in community activities, gatherings, and events.
- Embrace and embody Christian values.
- Participate in daily devotions, reflections, prayers, or conversations that enhance the Christian culture of Coldwater.
Qualifications:
- Alignment with Christian values and a desire to contribute to the spiritual environment of the camp.
- Willingness to actively participate in and support Coldwater activities.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with other camp staff.
- Strong organizational skills to manage kitchen inventory, coordinate meal schedules, and maintain cleanliness.
- Attention to detail to ensure all dietary preferences and restrictions are considered.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Positive and friendly demeanor to create a welcoming atmosphere in the camp kitchen.
